Investec is a specialist bank and asset management group. Founded in 1974 in Johannesburg, South Africa, is now operates internationally in three primary markets; UK and Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Southern Africa. Investec has offices in Switzerland, Hong Kong, Mauritius, Guernsey, Botswana, Canada, Namibia, Taiwan, Jersey and the United States.
Investec first acquired a banking licence in 1980 and has achieved its current size through a series of acquisitions. It was restructured into Investec Group in 1988 and began UK operations in 1992 after the acquisition of Allied Trust Bank. Investec made its debut on the London Stock Exchange in 2002.

Wealth and investment
Personal banking customers can choose to bank, save, invest or borrow. Investec does not offer banking services to the public; it is a private bank and customers must earn £300,000 annually or have a net worth of at least £3m to open an account. Private banking customers can also access foreign exchange services and fixed term, easy-access and offshore savings accounts.
Customers can also seek advice regarding investments and build their portfolio with Investec services including asset management, financial planning and wealth management.
For business customers, Investec offers a comprehensive portfolio of financial products including business finance, capital markets, venture capital, specialist lending, private equity, property finance and corporate lending, as well as a suite of investment products.
For larger corporations that may need advice on cash management, risk management, institutional investment or specialist lending, Investec has specialist teams with extensive expertise in these matters.
